Greil Marcus is the author, most recently, of When That Rough God Goes Riding: Listening to Van Morrison, The Shape of Things to Come: Prophecy and the American Voice, and the forthcoming The Doors: A Lifetime of Listening to Five Mean Years. He is also co-editor, with Werner Sollors, of A New Literary History of America, published by Harvard in 2009. This fall he is teaching at the New School in New York. He lives in Oakland, California.
