The Loneliest Job in the World

As National Poetry Month, and our celebration of it, draws to a close, we'd like to thank the four publishers that have allowed us to share their poets' inspiration with our readers: Coffee House Press, David R. Godine, City Lights, and Graywolf Press. Our last entry is by Tony Hoagland, from the recently published Unincorporated Persons in the Late Honda Dynasty.

The Loneliest Job in the World

As soon as you begin to ask the question, Who loves me?,

you are completely screwed, because

the next question is How Much?,

and then it is hundreds of hours later,

and you are still hunched over

your flowcharts and abacus,

trying to decide if you have gotten enough.

This is the loneliest job in the world:

to be an accountant of the heart.

It is late at night. You are by yourself,

and all around you, you can hear

the sounds of people moving

in and out of love,

pushing the turnstiles, putting

their coins in the slots,

paying the price which is asked,

which constantly changes.

No one knows why.

I have been using for long. I like hound and I enjoy using the site because it shows me unadvertised jobs from employer websites. Hound is a job search engine that shows its members jobs from every employer website it can find in the United States and throughout the world. Hound goes out and proactively pulls jobs directly from employer websites. Hound is Private, Not commercial and Works for You. Hound goes out and locates jobs on employer websites and puts them on its site. It shows you jobs from employers unfettered by any commercial interest. The jobs are displayed in the order of priority—not in the order of who is paying and not paying to post on the site. Employers do not pay to post on our site. There are no ads on Hound. Hound will never try to sell you anything. Hound is private. Because Hound works for all. Other job sites work for recruiters and those posting jobs. The jobs you see on Hound are all real jobs. You are one of a few people with access to these jobs. This makes all the difference. In this site you may got any kind of jobs and information. So I can recommend that entire site try there. Thanks

Poems That Make Grown Men Cry

And women too.  Luminaries from Colin Firth to Nick Cave and Jonathan Franzen chose the poems that bring them to tears, and the result is a stunning collection of poignant verse from writers like Auden, Whitman, Bishop, Larkin, Neruda and many others.  Warning: choking-up hazard.

The King of Pain

Trapped beneath his entertainment system, reality TV mastermind Rick Salter reflects on his life and tries to piece together the events of the previous evening. Seth Kaufman’s romp is an outrageous meditation on pain and entertainment in a deranged world in which the two are often interchangeable.

The Good Inn

Frank Black, frontman for the Pixies, has written a transgressive historical fiction with shades of Thomas Pynchon (focused as it is on the history of explosives and cinematic pornography), all set in a hallucinatory Edwardian Europe.
